Paper Canvas
One day, in my studio, I was trying to pull my muse out to play but, she was slow to flow so, I decided to go back to basics. As a kid, I would sit for hours with a box of crayons and a stack of blank paper. I remembered the simplicity of those moments, filling the paper edge to edge with solid blocks of color or, rainbows. Feeling nostalgic, I reached for my box of crayons and a pad of mixed media paper. Randomly, I picked up each crayon & filled the pages. Then, she arrived on the playground. “Can I play?” I was challenged to make a canvas out of the colored paper & stretch it on a frame.

As, the paper canvas came together, I had a small artist doubt of physically being able to make it work. Dancing around the doubt, I continued to work & it was a success! Life is fragile but with patience, determination and willingness to fail, it’s worth trying, taking a risk. Some losses, More gains. I am looking forward to working more with this material, in this way. Artist Life…when, your muse comes out to play.
