My ideas develop and expand through my practice of, “paint sketches.” In my sketchbooks, I can dive into the heart of intuitive creation. Like, a diary page whispering secrets, there is beauty & truth in this vulnerable work in progress. A pocket of diverse skills mixed with emotional energy explodes into a language of color.
Beyond the sketch, I make unique canvases like, making quilts, telling a story with each stitch. As, we grow in life, our art changes with us. I de-stretched 20 years of work and now I have a studio full of “naked frames.” I am on a mission to clothe them all. This evolved way of work has given me better creative flow and I am enjoying starting fresh, making everything from scratch.
I am inspired by earth art, feet adventures, music and humanity. Through photography & videography, I have the ability to jump platforms and create digital art. Less of a mess and can be made anywhere, it has become one of my favorite ways to continue my art practice.
Community is everything. I think it is in collaboration that the nature of art is revealed. (Steve Lacy) Collaboration is not about gluing together existing egos. It’s about the ideas that never existed until after everyone entered the room. (?) Genuine collaboration is an environment that promotes communication, learning, maximum contribution and innovation. A special shout out to Daisy. My cat, is the best. I am very thankful for her dedicated studio assistance. An appreciation to those of you who have joined me for studio days. Even if, not collaborating, it is wonderful to share the space and give each other feedback, to inspire & to grow.
